This is an extremely random collection of my images that I've posted here for my own enjoyment. I'm delighted that several of you seem to enjoy some of them, too.

Years ago I found myself sitting with a friend in a patio bar on a sunny afternoon in beautiful downtown Kingston, ON. The subject of occupations came up, and as we were just out of school (in my case that was hardly a noticeable event, since I didn't spend much time in class anyway) we were debating the relative merits of various careers.

I determined then that all I wanted was a job that paid well enough so that I could afford to cover my bar tab on patios like the very one we were enjoying, and enough relative freedom that I could enjoy said patio, or others of it's ilk, on a fairly regular basis.

Be careful what you wish for, kiddies.

All in all, it's been good. Except that I hate shooting for money. It's just that I do occasionally need to pay for more than just a bar tab. And my worst day at work almost always beats every other persons good or even best days. Besides, I don't shoot for clients....I shoot for myself. It's just through pleasant coincidence that most of my clients hired me because they liked my aesthetic. Or because I was cheap. It depends.

I have a few pet peeves. One is calling photographs "captures" because they were made with a digital body instead of a film back. It's a meaningless distinction and ranks up there with wearing those dorky photo vests and any other article of clothing intended solely for photography. I'm going to market a line of bright yellow t-shirts that say "I'm a dork" on the back and "professional photographer - staff" "field gear" and "outdoors rugged fashion" on the front......and I guarantee they'll sell like crazy.

Another pet peeve is well-heeled dilettantes, but if it wasn't for them who would buy my new line of t-shirts?
